Coy Moves On to Nationals; Cross Country Team Concludes Season

The final race of the season for the Trojans was the A.I.I independent meet in San Marcos, California. The race gave both men and women a chance to qualify for Nationals. Senior Andy Coy will be making his third appearance to Nationals in Washington due to his sixth place finish.

Coy posted a spectacular time of 25:34, which earned him the All-Conference honor. Nic Penning, finishing his college career, placed 25th with a time of 27:16. Andy Quenzer, also running in his final collegiate cross country race, finished 36th in 30:41. Taylor Hauge was 38th with a time of 30:59. Jared Sutton finished 43rd in 32:13. Jared Truman placed 44th in 32:30. The men placed fifth with a total of 46 runners and accumulated 110 points.

Kayla Sveen finished the course 31st a time of 21 minutes and seven seconds. Stephanie Uher completed her last collegiate cross country meet and placed 35th in 21:31. Summer Bronson, who also raced in her last cross country meet, recorded a 36th place finish with a time of 21:33. Brooke Fritz was 38th in 21:36. Anastasia Asimakopoulos finished 39th in 21:37. Amber Wiebenga got 43rd in 22:32. Tara Ronke finished 46th with a time of 23:02. Fifty total runners ran in the women’s race. As a team, DSU finished sixth with 144 points.

Coy will run Nationals in Vancouver, Washington on November 17th. Good luck to him and congratulations to the Trojans for a good season.
