DSU Theatre is performing a Regional Premiere this week, March 22, 23, and 24, at 7:30 pm at the Dakota Prairie Playhouse.

Disturbed by the Wind is a two act play following the Wright brothers’ invention of the airplane. This story focuses on Orville and Wilbur Wright as they struggle to manage their personal lives, achieve the impossible, and simply survive. Another focus in the play is the life of Otto Lilienthal; which illustrates the ways that determination can tear a family apart.

The entire cast worked hard to produce the set, props, lights, and not to mention the countless hours they have spent rehearsing for the past month and a half. Dedication is not only a theme in the play, but in the cast and crew’s personal lives as well. One cast member, Tawny Jones, was able to talk to me about her experience.

“This show is very unique, and everyone has been working hard to make happen. We have been working long nights and extra hours to make it the best it can be. We are all excited to perform in front of an audience and share the premier of Disturbed by the Wind.”

Production dates for this play are March 22, 23, and 24. Thursday night, March 22, is the opening night Gala. There will be refreshments and cake in the lobby after the performance for anyone who wants to stay and celebrate with the cast and crew. The production will begin at 7:30 each night, with the doors opening at 7:00 pm for seating. Cost for the play is $7.00 for general admission, and free for DSU students with DSU ID.

Fear the Turkey Drama Club will also be selling concessions before the show begins and during the 15 minute intermission of the program. The proceeds made from concessions will go toward a club trip to a professional theatre company in Chicago next year.

On behalf of myself, and Trojan Times, I encourage everyone to support DSU theatre and attend a performance of Disturbed by the Wind. I am also taking this opportunity to say, figuratively, to all the members of theatre to ‘break a leg.’
