DSU Men Win Second Consecutive A.I.I. Tournament; Will Go to Nationals

The Trojans have capped off their season and are on to the national tournament! This weekend, the Trojans won their second straight A.I.I. tournament title. In the first round of the tournament, the Trojans defeated Northern New Mexico by a score of 82-67. In the second round, the Trojans rallied back to win another one against Valley City State by a score of 58-53. In the championship game, the Trojans came back from a 20-point deficit to take down Jamestown College and claim the title.

“It’s not what happens to you, it’s how you react to it,” said coach Gary Garner.

Coach Garner also won A.I.I. coach of the year. Tyrone Gordon, Luke Lamb, and Yusef Vinson all received All Tournament honors.

The Trojans finished their regular season going 22-9.

They will be traveling down to Point Lookout, Missouri to compete in the national tournament on March 6th.
