DSU Spreads News of Athletics Plan

It was announced last week that the Trojan Athletic Department, along with Dakota State University, are planning and hoping for a major facility upgrade for Dakota State Athletics in the near future. Dakota State University and Athletic Program have laid out the groundwork for new and improved Dakota State Athletic facilities.

The plan includes rotating the football field 90 degrees to have it run north and south, rather than the east to west plane it lies on now. The creation of an ESports facility to attract some of the best gamers from across the world, including those already at Dakota State. New baseball and softball diamonds that would bring the action closer to campus along with a soccer field and a new indoor and outdoor track. A new indoor practice facility is also part of the plans that include a new indoor basketball gym along with an artificially turfed practice area that would include the indoor track and improve practicing for baseball, softball, football and potentially the new soccer team(s).

The plan was unveiled by President Griffiths last week in the TCB Auditorium and was recently put on display at the Denny Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, allowing DSU to expand and increase its audience. The plan hopes to begin constructing as soon as possible, but they wait for the funding to fall in place.

The addition of these facilities would instantly put Dakota State and the Dakota State Trojans at the top of list for schools in South Dakota, the Midwest region, and the entire NAIA as a premier place to study and play. These plans not only benefit the school and local businesses, but also the athletes as they would be exposed to better practice and game facilities in addition to more spacing and less scheduling conflict. The new Dakota State Athletics Plan is certainly a major project, but one that could benefit former, current, and future Trojans.
