DSU Women Fall to Mount Marty

The Dakota State University women’s basketball team began a four-game home stand Monday night at the DSU Fieldhouse. The Trojans hosted Mount Marty College in a non-conference game. The Lancers rallied in the second-half to secure a 59-55 win.

The Dakota State University women’s basketball team began a four-game home stand Monday night at the DSU Fieldhouse. The Trojans hosted Mount Marty College in a non-conference game. The Lancers rallied in the second-half to secure a 59-55 win.
Dakota State dropped their overall record to 3-6, while Mount Marty won their fourth straight game and raised their overall record to 9-3.
Mount Marty opened up the game early and with eleven minutes and 36 seconds left in the first half the score was 17-6.  Dakota State rallied back with a 19-8 run to deadlock the game 25-25 with 2:30 left before halftime.

DSU took the lead from a lay-up by Cassie Jacobsen to put DSU 29-27 at the half.The Trojans started the second-half with a 15-9 run for their largest lead at 44-36.  Mount Marty came back and went on a 9-1 scoring run to tie the game at 45-45 with 7:25 left in regulation.With 3:47 left in the game DSU grabbed the lead 51-50.  Mount Marty then answered back with five straight points and take the lead 55-51.

With Dakota State leading at 51-50 with 3:47 left in the game, the Lancers answered with five straight points to grab a 55-51 lead with less than two minutes left in the game.
The Lancers then secured the victory by making 4-for-4 free-throws in the last 18 seconds of the game.
Kylie Westover led the Trojans with 14 points and seven rebounds on the night.  Cassie Jacobsen also chipped in with 13 points and eight rebounds.
Dakota State will continue their home stand on Thursday night, December 9th. The Trojans will host NCAA D III Presentation College. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m. at the DSU Fieldhouse.
