This past Monday, March 24th, DSU Enactus enlisted the help of the Student Activities Board, Phi Beta Lambda business club, and Gaming Club to put on one of the most successful co-sponsored club events in recent memory.  The clubs came together and held a free bowling night for the students.

The free bowling night took place at the Cherry Lanes bowling alley in Madison from 7:00pm to 11:00pm.  This was a free event open to all students and the Madison community.  Transportation was provided by members of PBL and Enactus via a shuttle that ran from campus to the bowling alley every half hour.  Members of SAB and Gaming club helped sell Pizza Hut pizza and soda throughout the night to the students.

This event had one of the biggest turnouts for an event at DSU this year.  Over 100 students came out to the bowling alley to take part in the free event.  After 9:00pm, cosmic bowling was brought out to really add to the experience.

The event was run by Enactus member Chris Beadles who believes that “DSU needs to do more social activities for the students. I also feel that we need to be more active within the community, whether that be spending our money to enjoy Madison’s resources, or doing things for the community. I think the $1 Movie Night that SAB put on at the beginning of the year was a good, successful event and I wanted to do something similar.”

Whether it was due to the timing (Monday evenings being notoriously inactive), the lack of cost, or the activity itself, the free bowling night was a huge success and proved that when clubs hold an event that is not just another dance the students will come.  One hopes that more clubs will consider new and different activities like this and work together to pull them off.
