Human Resources awards and recognition

When Dakota State University rolled out the new visual identity in May, we united under the strength of the Hexagon and the Trojan. To further support this unification, the Human Resources (HR) department has also unveiled their True Trojan Hexagon awards – which is part of the True Trojan recognition program.

These awards given to DSU employees who demonstrate excellence in advising, research, service, and teaching. They are given to those who embody Trojan pride, are true to the spirit of DSU, and are true to their career, themselves, and co-workers. They are dedicated. They are disciplined. They are dynamic.

The Hexagon Awards consist of six different awards, two of which are student nominated.

CSA Outstanding Coordinator – Consistently goes above and beyond, while performing at high standard. Solves problems and improves work situations without being prompted. Employee demonstrates reliability, perseverance, and focuses on results. They also share knowledge of DSU practices, resources, and skills.

NFE Outstanding Contributor – Consistently goes above and beyond, while performing at high standard. Solves problems and improves work situations without being prompted. Employee demonstrates reliability, perseverance, and focuses on results. They also share knowledge of DSU practices, resources, and skills.

Team of the Year – Recognition of a team that exemplifies collaboration and cooperation. The team inspires and works towards a bold vision for success at DSU. Takes initiative to improve values and efficiency of the services they provide. They embrace change as an opportunity for growth and innovation.

Bringing out the Best – An employee who develops trust and credibility through open, respectful communication, and demonstrating accountability. They provide a sense of purpose, vision, and mission for coworkers and/or staff. They positively influence others to build unity within a variety of settings. Champions change effectively through formal or informal leadership as they help others develop.

Faculty Outstanding Contributor – A student nominated award which recognizes the commitment to student success. Faculty members are the core of DSU as they mentor, inspire, and teach students, contribute to research and creative activity, as well as engage in significant service.

Staff Outstanding Contributor – A student nominated award which recognizes the commitment to student success. Seeks to honor both NFE and CSA staff members who contribute in significant ways to the quality of life for our students. Also fosters positive social and work environments, facilitates communication, and promotes improved student achievement.

So what does this mean for students? It means that you may you may nominate a staff or faculty member who been a positive influence on the DSU campus, has impacted you, and has helped you through your academic career for the Faculty Outstanding Contributor and the Staff Outstanding Contributor. All nominations must be submitted by March 1, 2020 at 5:00 pm.
