The Men’s and women’s Track and Field team will kick off their indoor season this weekend at Wayne State College in Wayne, NE.
The women’s team brings back two All-Americans, Sophomore Brittany Young and Senior Danielle Rowe.   Young ran her freshman year and completed her indoor season with a 5th place finish at the NAIA National Championships.  Last season Rowe finished 4th in the high jump at Nationals and will look to improve her finish and receive her 4th All-American in that event.
Seniors Brandi Gau, Amber Krogstad will also look to lead the women’s team.  Juniors Stephanie Warnke, Karisa Hartje, Sara Schultz, Amy Pheneger, and Sophomores Claire Beck, Laura Porch, Summer Bronson, and Stephanie Uher will also look do well this season and hopefully qualify for Nationals.
The men’s team will look to bring back their 4×800 and DMR squad back to the National meet.  They finished runner-up in both events last season and were a fraction of a second in breaking South Dakota’s All-Time 4×800 record.  Tyler Van Peursem, Anthony Drealan, and Cody Foreman ran on the relays and will be missed, but Senior Matt Fideler, Sophomore Andy Coy will look to bring them back to the National meet.
Other Seniors Devon Berkness, Jerad Schlobohm, Phil Carmody, Jared Megenhausn, and Junior Keith Huffman will help lead the way for the track team this season.  Sophomores Stacey Berg, Matt Glick, Michael Hoffman, Thomas Kjerentroen, Jeff Rieger and freshman, Chance Clason, John Farmer, Gabe Samuelson, Ryan Gimbel, Kace Groff, Cody Leins, Keith Moe, Jordy Peterson, Elijah Simon, Trevor Rosstznecht, Joshua Scott, Shane Whidby, Fernando Trevino will also look to help the Trojans.
