Lady T’s Fall Short At Home

Briar Cliff took on Dakota State Wednesday evening winning 75-67 in Madison.  The Lady T’s fell to an 8-13 overall record. Briar Cliff raised their overall record to 12-8.

The Lady T’s struck early to gain a 5-0 lead thanks to a three ball by Cassie Jacobsen and a nice basket by freshman BreeAna Olson. The Chargers then scored eight straight points to take lead 14-12. At 14-14, Briar Cliff went on a 13-0 rampage to make the lead 27-14. After trailing 34-16, the Lady Trojans closed with a 19-10 run. Kylie Westover hit a 3-pointer to make Briar Cliff’s lead 44-35 at halftime.

Briar Cliff started out cold in the second half allowing the Lady T’s to score seven straight points. Cassie Jacobsen scored a pair of baskets and Westover added a 3-point bomb to start the half reducing the Chargers’ lead to 44-42. Leading 53-49, the Chargers went on to score six straight points to get back their double-digit lead at 59-49. Briar Cliff comfortably kept the lead the rest of the game to win 75-67.

Shooting an impressive 8-for-19 from the field, six of those makes coming from the 3-point line, Kylie Westover scored 22 points for Dakota State to lead the team. Sharee Galbraith added 10 points off the bench. Erin Rabenberg tallied 8 points for the Lady T’s. Jacobsen scored 7 points and Olson added 6 points. Senior Alyson Drooger recorded 7 rebounds and 4 blocks for DSU. Dakota State was 35.6% from the field, 21-for-59, compared to the Chargers’ 34.6%, 27-for-78.

The Lady T’s next game is their inaugural NSAA conference game on Wednesday, January 22nd at 5:30 against Presentation College.
