Regular Season Ends at Mount Marty Invitational

Saturday was the last the regular season meet for both Men’s and Women’s XC teams. The meet was hosted in Yankton at the Human Services Center. The women’s team finished 12th in the team standings with 336 points and the men did not run a complete team.

Kayla Sveen finished 81st for the Lady Trojans with a time of 21:12.71. Next was Brooke Fritz who completed the course in 21:33.99 placing 92nd. Stephanie Uher ran a time of 22:06.75 and got 107th. Coming in 108th was Anastasia Asimakopoulos in 22:08.73. Summer Bronson placed 115th in 22:25.75. Amber Wiebenga ran the course in 23:12.57 for a 128th-place finish. 141 runners were in the race with Dordt College winning the women’s 5K with 46 points.

For the men, Nic Penning finished 15th with a time of 26:22.71 on the Mount Marty course. Following him was Taylor Hauge who finished 120th with a time of 29:15.72. Jared Sutton, who ran for the first time this year, ran the course in 30:40.02 and placed 148th.

The Trojans also had three unattached runners in the Men’s race. Matt Fideler had an early birthday present by winning the Mount Marty invitational in an amazing time of 25:25:70. Steve Selchert was 110th with a time of 28:50.97. Thomas Ricket ran a time of 33:09.87 with a place of 157th. Dickinson State won the title with 37 points, which had a total of 162 runners in the 8K course.

The Trojans will run in San Marcos, California for the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.) conference meet on November 3rd. The meet will give the men and women a chance to make it to Nationals, which is in Washington.
