On Wed Oct 9, more than 75 employers congregated in the DSU Field house to seek out DSU students for internships, part-time, and full-time positions.

“DSU has really incredible technology programs and that’s what drew us here,” shared Whitney Fritzinger, DataVizion’s IT Corporate Recruiter. “We are looking for people to join our team who have skills in network and security and experience with some of those technologies, and Dakota State seems to be preparing their students well for that.” DataVizion, like many of the employers at the Career Fair, already employs DSU alumni and continues to look for more to hire.

Chad Vondra, one of the owners of Omnitech, was impressed by the rising sophistication of students in attendance. “Their professionalism has really taken a step forward in what we want to seeā€¦kids coming in dressed professionally, acting professionally, being prepared, having their research done on who we are, what we do, and really being ready for intimate interactions with us.”

Students were drawn to DSU’s Career Fair by its growth, as well. DSU Senior Caleb Hanisch noted, “They had a lot more employers this year; I talked to about a dozen different ones.” He interned for CAPITAL Services this past summer and his photo and quote were used on a handout at their booth.

Students Cole Stokes and Nick Medema were also grateful for the variety of opportunities present at the Career Fair. “It’s better than having to search out employment completely on your own,” Medema explained. “It’s nice to meet the employers in a central place.”

“The Career Fair is the only reason I attend DSU on campus. Otherwise, I’d be online,” Stokes stated. He recognized how accessible the Career Fair is for students who attend on campus and acknowledged that it plays a huge part in DSU students getting great jobs.

DSU’s Career Fair continues to grow every year and hopes are high for an even bigger turnout of employers and students In the years to come.
