Night on Fire

By Dillon Dwyer

You sparked me from your two stones and fresh tinder.

Dancing, it was a mixing of elements. We called it combustion.

They wanted to label it as love. How could they understand?

You gave me purpose and I kept you warm during that dark night.

A constant give and take, neither of us wanted to burn out or expire.

Passion kept us alive. One night, a flicker among flames.

In the morning, I was coals and you were gone.
