Trojan Volleyball Team Finishes Season with 12-20 Record

This year, the Trojans have struggled a bit compared to last year. It has been a roller coaster year with many small winning streaks. They have battled all year to get themselves ready for the A.I.I. tournament on November 9th and 10th in Mayville, North Dakota. They just recently lost an in-state rival match with the Sioux Falls Cougars. This dropped their record to 12-17 overall. They have a triangular with Jamestown and Valley City on October 26th. They will finish their season off with a match against Mayville.

(Ed. note: Since this article was written, the Trojans completed their season with two matches in the Jamestown Triangular and against Mayville State, with all three resulting in losses. As such, the Trojans finish the season with a 12-20 record.)

“Overall this season we have really grown as a team. Our goal for the year was to make it to the conference tournament so this weekend is really important for us. We are hoping to play our best volleyball and accomplish our goal,” said libero Katie Green.

“Many underclassmen stepped up in a huge way and made a presence on the court.
This season has been my best in the 5 years I have participated in Volleyball,” said outside hitter Kristen DiPaola (who smashed her 1000th career kill earlier this season).

“I feel like we lost some close ones this year that really hurt us in the long run,” said head coach Amy Veenhof.

Seniors Kristen DiPaola, Katie Green, and Taylor Mosco will be greatly missed next year as the Trojans look to improve in the future with their young players.
