Tuesday night after the girl’s game concluded, the men’s team was set to take on their fierce in state rival Dakota Wesleyan. The Trojans struggled to take care of the ball in the first half which put then in to a hole at halftime. Despite a strong rally in the second half by the Trojans; they failed to convert on two opportunities to win the game as time ran out. DWU squeaked by the Trojans with a score of 70-69.

This loss dropped the Trojans to an overall record of 3-3. Dakota Sate is on a 12 game losing streak against DWU.

In the first half the Trojans were firing on all cylinders with an early 11-4 lead, only 5 minutes into the game. But DWU found a rhythm and took a one-point lead 12-11, with 13 minutes left in the game.

Right before halftime the Trojans got sloppy with the ball and turned it over a lot letting the Tigers go on a 17-6 run. DWU took a 12-point lead going into halftime. DSU committed 16 turnovers in the first half.

In second half the Trojans started knocking down some shots and went on a 23-11 run to tie the game 48-48. After this it was a dog fight, both teams traded leads 6 times, until DWU hit a three pointer to take the lead 68-63 with 3 minutes remaining.

Keith Biggers followed it up with a key layup that would cut the lead down to one point., with 48 seconds left. With time running down to Trojans defense buckled down ad forced a turnover with 14 seconds left in the game. The Trojans had two opportunities on the last possession but failed to score as time expired.

Jesse Bean came alive in the second half as he had 13 of his 15 points in the second half.  Keith Biggers had solid game off the bench with 12 points and six boards. Ducky Stewart had eight points and right rebounds.  Spencer Adams was all every ware on the court with nine points, four assists, and six boards.

The Trojans will be taking on Northern State in an exhibition game on Friday night at 7p.m. Then the Trojans will be heading up to take on Trinity Bible as regular season play resumes. Tip off is slated for 6 p.m.
