Trojans Win Six Straight Non-Exhibition Games

This season has been a very hot start for the Trojans. They traveled to New Ulm, Minnesota and beat Martin Luther to extend their winning streak to six games. They also beat AIB, who they struggled against but the defense stepped up and they squeaked one out with a 59-57 win. They sit at 7-1 on the season with nationally ranked Northwestern (IA) as their only loss of the year. Dakota State also received votes in the most recent NAIA D-II National Men’s Basketball poll. This has been the best start for basketball since the 1966-67 season.

Luke Lamb leads the way in scoring average with 16.5 points a game. John Lamb, Marcus Smith and Yusuf Vinson all average 13 points a game.

Yusuf Vinson (8.5 rpg) and Luke Lamb (7.25 rpg) also lead the rebounding attack for the Trojans. Luke Lamb has recorded three double-doubles and Vinson has two.

Terrell Newton has 33 assists on the season and Keith Lee and John Lamb have 30.

The Trojans will look to keep their streak alive with an upset win, as they travel to Brookings take on South Dakota State in a exhibition game on Thursday night. Tip-off is set for 7pm.
