The Madison Area Arts Council (MAAC) in association with students at Dakota State University are hosting a release party for DSU’s literary magazine, New Tricks. The release party will be hosted at the BrickHouse in downtown Madison at 106 SE 2nd street, starting at 7 p.m. on April 22, 2015.

You are invited to take a look at the artwork, photos, and animations of your fellow students. Refreshments will be provided by the local Sigma Tau Delta English honor society chapter, Alpha Gamma Lambda. The authors of poetry and short prose will also read their submissions aloud.

For the last few weeks, the students of Dr. Nelson’s Publishing for New Media class have been working hard to get the magazine ready for publishing. The Editor in Chief, Dylan Winthers comments on the project, “Taking on the entire construction of a magazine has been a challenge that has really flourished into a stunning product.” The class has now selected all the works that will be placed in the physical copy and the online version of the magazine. Right now, the class is hard at work with editing and organizing the submissions into the physical copy.  Please come on down to the release event and get a sample of the fine work that your fellow students at DSU have made and get your copy of the magazine at the release party.
