Trojans Beat NSAA-Best Jamestown

The Dakota State Trojan men won their 4th straight game last Saturday by beating the Jamestown Jimmies. The Jimmies were undefeated in North Star Athletic Association play until Dakota State took them down a notch. The Trojans had to take it to overtime in order to beat the Jimmies 96-88.

Jamestown started the game hot by making three straight 3-pointers, but Dakota State went off on a 16-5 run to take the lead 16-14. The two teams fought hard throughout the first half trading blows. With the game at 21-20, the Trojans put together a 12-8 run led by Dylan Hale to give DSU the halftime lead 33-28.

Dylan stayed hot in the second half by scoring the Trojan’s first 9 points! The Jimmies fought back hard with an 18-8 run to take the lead 51-50. Once again, the two best teams in the NSAA fought hard and seemed to be evenly matched as the second half ended 73-73 to send it into overtime.

The Trojans were on fire in overtime scoring 10 straight points to take a whopping lead 85-74. The Jimmies tried their best to get back into the game but the deficit was too large. After a hard fought game, Dakota State won the thrilling match-up 96-88.

Dakota State plays again on March 1st at home to participate in their first ever NSAA conference tournament. The Trojans (#2) will take on Valley City (#3) at 6 pm in the Fieldhouse.
