The Lady T’s were back in action Wednesday night after a tough road trip this past weekend. They took on the Comets from Mayville on DSU’s home turf. DSU fought hard all game, but struggled to stay consistent with shooting from the field. The Lady T’s were defeated by a score of 80 to 75. The Comets handed DSU their 4th loss in a row.  This put their record at 5-14 overall and 1-7 in the DAC.

In the beginning of the first half, the Lady T’s and the Comets went back and forth with the lead. However, midway through the first half the Comets went on a hot run with Haily Longtin that scored seven of the next 9 points, which placed them up 21-12. The Comets hung on to this lead through the first half and took the lead at halftime 34-26. Mayville State came out hot in the first half extending their lead to 47 to 32.

The Lady T’s chipped away the lead slowly in the second half. With about 3 minutes left in the game DSU cut down the lead to 66-62. After this both teams went on scoring runs, but the Lady Trojans couldn’t stop Mayville’s second chance points.

Cassie Jacobsen led the Lady T’s with 21 points.  Kylie Westover was lights out from the arc, making 6 Three pointers and scoring 18 points.

The Men’s basketball dominated with the team winning their second game in a row; beating the Comets to sweep them this year.  The Trojans moved their record to one above .500 putting their record at 11-10 and 3-5 in the conference. The Trojans took this one in Madison with a score of 73-64.

In the first half both teams fought hard for the lead. After a couple lead changes, the Trojans took the lead right before halftime with a score of 32 to 28.

Mayville came out of halftime cutting the Trojans lead to 2 points.  But the Trojans put down the Comets and scored 10 straight points taking the lead 42-30.  After this took place, the Trojans pulled away late in the game with an 18 points lead. The Comets stuck around making the most of their second chance shots, by cutting the Trojans lead to 65-61. The Comets gave the Trojans a brief scare, but the Trojans went on a 8-3 run holding on to the lead to take the victory.

The Trojans gave some great performances Wednesday night. Jesse Bean had 17 points and had 5 boards. Bean Shot 50% from both the field and the Arc, he also was a perfect 4-4 from the free-throw line.  Mike Larsen had 14 points and had 8 assists. Jordan King played a great role coming off the bench and scoring 12 points and had 3 assists.
