On February 18th at 7 PM, the Ruth Habeger Science Auditorium at DSU became a space of reflection as students and other Madison residents gathered to hear the powerful testimony of Ben Lesser. A Holocaust survivor and founder of the Zachor Foundation, Lesser has dedicated his life to advocating for peace and for preserving the memory of those lost in the Holocaust.

Born in Poland in 1928, Lesser endured four concentration camps, including Auschwitz-Birkenau, before being liberated from Dachau. Speaking via Zoom, he shared his harrowing journey of survival and resilience, offering the audience a rare opportunity to engage with history firsthand and ask questions about his experiences.

The event was the product of many hours of work by the Lake County National History Club and sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences and the Lake County Museum.
