Trojans Start 2026 With a Win
Dakota State football started its 2026 season with a 35-27 win over Dakota Wesleyan on Aug. 29 at Brian Kern Family Stadium. The victory put the No. 25 Trojans at 1-0 to start the season and gave them a good early boost towards the start of a challenging season.
Before the regular season started, DSU had a scrimmage against Mount Marty on Aug. 20. The Dakota Wesleyan game was the first official game of the season and gave the Trojans a good start.
DSU will now travel to Spearfish to play Black Hills State on September 5th. After that, the Trojans will return home to face Nebraska Wesleyan on Sept. 12 and Arizona Christian on September 19th.
The team will also have some long road games this season, including games against Southern Oregon, Rocky Mountain and MSU-Northern. Some important home games later in the season include Montana Tech, Dickinson State and Mayville State.
The Trojans have a long season ahead, but starting with a win gives the team momentum going into the next games. DSU will look to continue its strong start as conference games begin later in the season.
The next game for Dakota State is September 5th against Black Hills State.
