After an 0-4 Start, DSU Volleyball Team Rebounds to 5-6 Record
This year’s volleyball team has started out in a slump. But after losing four straight, they bounced back in the win column with two in a row. They dropped one to South Dakota Tech in a three set match, but since then they have won three in a row putting them at 5-6 on the season after winning against Presentation College on Tuesday night.
“We started off a little rough but we have really pulled together as a team. If we keep playing with mental thought of controlling each set we will win many games. I’m excited to see how this season turns out” said Kristen Dipaloa
On September 4th, the Trojans took on Mount Marty, where Kristen Dipaloa almost broke the DSU volleyball record for most kills in a single match with 30. She also holds the record with 31 kills, which she also had against Mount Marty last year. This performance won her the A.I.I. Female Player of the Week. Dipaloa was also named to the All-Tournament team in the Corn Palace tournament in Mitchell, South Dakota.
Katie Green leads DSU with eight service aces and 197 digs. Kristen DiPaola records a total of 194 attacks this season. Stacey Schuller amasses 365 set assists. Taylor Mosco records 33 blocks (0.8 blocks per set).
The Trojans have a busy schedule ahead of them. They will play 4 matches in a span of 7 days. They will start out Tuesday night as they take on Presentation College and finish up with Mount Marty again on Monday night. After having endured a long road trip, the DSU women return to Madison this Saturday night, taking on Concordia (Neb.) at 7 P.M.
