A Great Taste of a Small Town
Taste of Madison is an event that the Madison Chamber of Commerce has put on for Dakota State University every year for about twenty years. Rosie Jamison, who has been with the Chamber of Commerce for three years, says “It’s a great chance for us to welcome students into the community. We want them to know that they are an important part of Madison.” The event offered college students a chance to taste some of the local cuisine, while the community provided a friendly enviornment for the students to feel welcome in.
Thirteen wonderful businesses catered the event, with each one being a part of the Chamber of Commerce. Many non-food related business were also lending a hand as well. Taste of Madison typically occurs during the first few weeks of school, giving students a chance to explore what this town has to offer before classes start in earnest.
This event would not have been possible without volunteers sacrificing their valuable time to welcome the incoming students. Taste of Madison showed new and old students alike that they are welcome in our small town.
