This Friday, the women’s Basketball team took on Valley City State in the A.I.I National Qualifying tournament. Dakota State was chosen to host the three-day tournament. The Lady Trojans faired pretty well at home this year going 6-8. They finished the year with a record of 7-21. The ladies were looking to make some noise this weekend in this three-day event.
At the start of the game the lady Trojans could not find a rhythm shooting the ball missing their first 12 shots of the game. VCSU took advantage of Dakota States 26% shooting and jumped to a 15-2 lead.
In the second half the Trojans cut the lead to six points, which was the smallest lead of the game. The last 10 minutes was controlled by Valley City, the Lady T’s could not pull back within 11 points of the Vikings. The Trojans lost their final game of the season with a score of 61-45.
Westover was the high scorer for the Trojans with 15 points. Sharee Galbraith had 10 points and had seven rebounds. Katy Pillar had six points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Julie Munson added four assist and four steals.
“Friday was a tough game, the whole year we have struggled playing a full 40 minutes and tonight was no exception. We didn’t lose any seniors this year so we are looking forward to working hard in the offseason and we are going to try to build from this year and hope to come back stronger next year.” Said Julie Munson.
