Lady T's team breakdown before their game against the Jamestown Jimmies.

The NSAA volleyball preseason favorite the Jamestown Jimmies swept Dakota State last Saturday afternoon in Madison. The Jimmies earned their way to their eighth straight victory 25-14, 25-19 and 25-17 against the Dakota State Trojans.

The Jimmies started off hot with a 9-3 lead in the opening set. Then Jamestown got even hotter as they closed the first set with an 8-2 scoring run. They finished the set 25-14 to earn a 1-0 lead on the Lady T’s. During the first set, the Jimmies recorded 16 kills in 32 attempts hitting .500.

The Lady T’s and the Jimmies then went through the second set with 15 ties and four lead changes. Though DSU was leading at 15-14, the Jimmies scored five straight points to take the lead 19-15. Unfortunately, the Lady T’s could not come back. The Jimmies won the second set 25-19.

Jamestown and Dakota State had a great match through the third set with seven ties and one lead change. The Jimmies went on a 5-0 run to earn a 12-7 lead. The Trojans managed to close the gap to within one point of Jamestown, but ended up losing the match 25-17 to complete the sweep.

Caitlin Pick recorded nine kills and Brittney Anderson gave six kills for the Lady T’s. Kelci Viesselman recorded five kills. Stacey Schuller had 13 assists for Dakota State and Freshman Kaylee VanderWal had 11 assists. Katherine Gonzalez led the defense with 12 digs and Schuller recorded nine digs. Viesselman and Kaylee VanderWal each had a service ace for the Trojans.
