Briar Cliff Invitational is Trojans' Best Meet Yet
The Trojan Men and Women teams both competed in the Briar Cliff Invitational last weekend. It was a successful day for both teams. Each Dakota State runner ran their best times of the season on the flat, gravel course at the Adams Nature Preserve. There were a total of 16 teams at the meet.
In the women’s race, a total of 162 runners ran with Nebraska-Omaha winning the meet with 38 points. Kayla Sveen was 96th with a time of 20:38.39. Anastasia Asimakopoulos finished 121st in 21:33.01. Brooke Fritz completed the race in 140th place in 22:18.39. Summer Bronson got 141st place with a time of 22:21.99. Amber Wiebenga finished 145th in 22:35.08. The Lady Trojans placed 14th with a score of 420 points.
For the men, the University of Sioux Falls won the meet by scoring 27 points. The Trojan men didn’t have enough runners for a complete team. Nic Penning placed 12th with an impressive time of 25:50.80. Taylor Hauge finished the course in 27:17.74 and placed 62nd. There were a total of 174 in the race.
The Trojans will rest for a week before their final regular season meet of the season. That meet is the Mount Marty Invitational in Yankton, SD on October 20th.
